Day of Caring

A day to change lives.

You’d be amazed by what we can accomplish together through United Way in just one day. A Day of Caring is a chance for volunteer groups of all kinds to help change lives in Winnipeg by working together to help community organizations complete short-term projects that require a little extra people power.

Here are a few examples:

  • Help host a special event such as a community barbeque, picnic or holiday party
  • Spruce up an agency partner’s walls with a fresh coat of paint
  • Work alongside community residents to beautify a neighbourhood by planting flowers or participating in a community cleanup
  • Collect donations of much-needed items, including gently used clothing or household goods, hygiene products, or new socks and underwear

A Day of Caring can change your life too

North Point Douglas Women's Centre Day of Caring

Day of Caring projects like a community clean-up with North Point Douglas Women’s Centre give Cargill employees a chance to meet the people and partners impacted by support for United Way of Winnipeg.

“Cargill’s workplace campaign is one of the most exciting times in our Winnipeg office. From law to accounting, senior management to summer interns, all are encouraged to participate. We’ve found one of the best ways to ensure employees remain engaged year after year is to provide opportunities to see just how real the need is in our community.

A Day of Caring is an opportunity to connect with our community. It’s also a chance to connect with fellow employees, managers, or colleagues we don’t generally spend time with. For added meaning, we try to choose projects and partners that resonate with our employees and reflect Cargill’s commitment to health/nutrition, education and environmental sustainability. It’s good to know we are helping Winnipeggers change their lives for the better.”
