You have shown your amazing generosity and care for our city by giving your time and money to United Way of Winnipeg!
Together we raised over $17 million that will help United Way of Winnipeg address the social issues you have told us are most important: Providing youth with positive alternatives to crime, drugs and life on the street; creating safe and vibrant neighbourhoods; and reducing poverty.
“The success of our Campaign is determined by every single person who makes a contribution,” said Heather Grant-Jury, United Way’s 2007 Campaign Chair, at today’s campaign press conference. “The United Way Campaign is a great example of how people from all walks of life can unite to make positive change possible in Winnipeg.”
You have also demonstrated very clearly that poverty is unacceptable in our city by stepping up to the Leadership Challenge. The challenge was issued by a group of 10 long time supporters of United Way, all of whom donate $1200 or more per year. As a result, the challengers have donated an additional $250,000 to go directly towards reducing poverty in our city.
Thank you to the all the media, volunteers, businesses, organizations and each and every Winnipegger who helped put this year’s United Way campaign over the top!
