In a most spectacular show of community spirit, Winnipeggers let themselves be carried away with the circus last Saturday and raised over $17,000 in the process.
Almost 450 of Winnipeg’s best and brightest showed up at the Manitoba Museum on October 15, 2011 to enjoy the sights and sounds of a circus-gone-gala and do something good for our community at the same time.
The Next: CIRQUE was the first attempt at a dialed up fundraiser for members of United Way’s GenNext Council, a group of emerging professionals who represent our city’s next generation of business and community leaders. GenNext plans to make The Next: Party an annual event.
“The success of this event is a clear indication of how passionate the young leaders of this city are about making Winnipeg a great place for everyone,” said CIRQUE Co-chair Lana Bakun. “We’d like to thank RBC and our other sponsors for recognizing that passion through their generous support of The Next: CIRQUE. The GenNext Council is thrilled with the event and its results, and we’re already looking forward to hosting more evenings like this in 2012.”
“The Next: CIRQUE helped fulfill GenNext’s mission by bringing together more than 450 of Winnipeg’s young leaders in support of United Way. We hope The Next will become an annual flagship event for GenNext for many years to come and will help foster a lifelong commitment between Winnipeg’s young leaders and United Way,” said Gurpreet Brar, Chair of the GenNext Council.
And top hats off to everyone who came out to support The Next: CIRQUE. Hope to see you at The Next Party.
