Call for Proposals for Equity and COVID-19 Recovery Fund

With the tremendous support of generous donors, United Way Winnipeg has established the Equity and COVID-19 Recovery fund in response to growing needs and inequities.

United Way Winnipeg invests $2.9 million in recovery initiatives in the community and support for populations disproportionately impacted.

When the coronavirus hit our city last year, disparities within our community deepened even further.

Far too many Winnipeggers have been saddled with hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially Indigenous and Black communities, People of Colour, newcomers, women, isolated older adults, and people living in or on the edge of poverty. The disproportionate impact on these groups has highlighted the increased need to address social and racial inequities in our community.

Equity and COVID-19 Recovery Fund

The charitable sector has been at the forefront of this crisis, providing urgently needed services for marginalized and vulnerable Winnipeggers.

As the demand for these services continues to put significant strain on front-line service providers, it is vital to equip these agencies with the funds and resources to do the critical work they do.

United Way Winnipeg, with the tremendous support of generous donors, has established the Equity and COVID-19 Recovery fund in response to these growing needs and inequities.

The call for proposals is now open for nonprofit and charitable organizations in Winnipeg until Monday, July 12.

Over a three-year period, this fund will invest $2.9 million in recovery initiatives in the community and support for populations that have been disproportionately impacted.

The Equity and COVID-19 Recovery fund will provide grants to Winnipeg agencies addressing one or more of the following priorities:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Mental Health and Addiction Supports
  • Family Supports
  • Job Readiness and Training
  • Sector Modernization

The call for proposals is now open for nonprofit and charitable organizations in Winnipeg until Monday, July 12. Further details on criteria can be found here.

Many thanks to phenomenal support of United Way Winnipeg donors, who are helping our neighbours to weather the storm of COVID-19 while also building a strong foundation for them to reach their dreams and thrive.
