Victor grew up in a difficult home. He’s one of five children raised in a single parent family that struggled with housing, mental health and addiction.

He eventually went into CFS care.

In Grade 6, he joined an after school program that made a big difference in his life. He felt like he belonged.

Victor today.

“They say that 75% of youth who have a mentor graduate high school. And I’m one of ’em.”

Recognizing his potential, staff eventually asked him to join a summer learning program as a mentor himself.

“A lot of these kids wouldn’t have an opportunity to do anything in the summer,” says Victor. “It’s a safe environment with the opportunity to learn and grow and experience new things.”
