Selena Hinds, Vice President Brand, Communications & Community, Wawanesa Insurance, also announced an exciting new offering to complement last year’s Leadership Challenge, where any new Leadership gift of $1,200 or more is matched, doubling the impact in the community. This year, Winnipeggers can take the Leadership Challenge, and if they’re already a Leader, they can make their giving go even farther.
“Leaders can make an even bigger difference and kick their giving up a notch with the Wawanesa Super Challenge. Any increase to their gift will be matched up to $300. Or, if they increase their Leadership gift to $2,000, Wawanesa Insurance will match that increase up to $800.”
Thanks to outstanding generosity of donors and the amazing hard work of volunteers, United Way Winnipeg can provide stable and sustainable funding to an essential network of over 100 agency partners and programs. Winnipeggers in need access these services more than 340,000 times each year.
Veronika Kanya was one of these Winnipeggers. She shared her powerful story at Plane Pull and thanked donors for the difference they made in her life.
“CNIB saved my life when everything fell apart. I lost my eyesight at 23 and my world collapsed,” Veronika said. “I am so thankful to donors for giving me my independence. When you empower yourself, you empower others.”
This year, over 500 workplaces throughout Winnipeg will run campaigns in support of United Way Winnipeg.
