Setting the pace after 47 years

United Way Winnipeg ThermometerBack in 1965, a partnership between the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and the Winnipeg Labour Council brought United Way to Winnipeg. More than 40 years later, they’re still committed to leading the way as pacesetters for the 2012 United Way Campaign!

“Working with businesses, we see all the time what’s happening in the community,” says Wendy Stephenson, the Chamber’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. “For Winnipeg to succeed, the community as a whole needs to succeed. We want to be out there helping more than just business.”

After bringing the team together to celebrate their 2012 campaign kickoff, it took only half an hour for the Winnipeg Chamber to hit 95% of their goal. And now? “Our little thermometer is exploding out of the top!” says Stephenson.

And things aren’t over yet. Next up – a team scavenger hunt around the city with cameras and phones to try to capture shots of every letter in “United Way” – first group back to the office with both words wins!

Thanks to all the employees at the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce for making this campaign such a success!
