Leaving a legacy with a named fund

The Lynn & Wally MacMartin Fund

When it came time to decide how to invest in our community, Lynn & Wally MacMartin knew they wanted to leave a legacy with their name on it. The MacMartin’s established their own Named Fund in 2013 called “The Lynn & Wally MacMartin Fund.”

Donate now to help Winnipeg's most vulnerable through COVID-19.

“Having the experience of over 30 years volunteering with United Way Winnipeg and witnessing first-hand the impact of its donor-funded agency partners and programs inspired us to create a Named Fund,” says Wally. “A monthly donation, no matter how little or substantial, combined with other donations, help to make improvements in people’s lives. We wanted to make sure the excellent contribution to society United Way Winnipeg makes will be supported long after our demise, as a legacy.”

Wally has volunteered on numerous committees of United Way Winnipeg, including the Campaign Cabinet, Legacy Giving, as an Account Executive, and Community Leaders volunteer teams. He was also an employee of United Way Winnipeg.

“We wanted to make sure the excellent contribution to society United Way Winnipeg makes will be supported long after our demise, as a legacy.”

Wally was chosen by his employer to support his workplace’s Annual Campaign for three months. He says it was there that he learned about the important work of United Way Winnipeg’s donor-supported agency partners and programs, which opened his eyes to the critical needs of Winnipeg.

“Every dollar donated to United Way Winnipeg goes back directly to support the donor-supported agencies and programs,” says Wally. “With those efficiencies and the critical needs within our communities, the return of investment is an excellent return of resources.”
