Keeping little Winnipeggers warm with Koats for Kids

September 29, 2021 to January 10, 2022
Keeping little Winnipeggers warm with Koats for Kids

Every year, from September to January, Winnipeggers donate over 6,000 coats, and Koats for Kids shares this winter gear with Winnipeg families.

Join us!

With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of Winnipeggers hardest hit by the pandemic and ensure that no child is left in the cold.

How can you help?

Host a Koats for Kids drive!

Let your friends, family, and colleagues know that you’re collecting donations of new and gently used children’s winter outerwear and encourage them to pitch in. Winter coats, ski pants, hats, mitts, scarves and boots are needed in all kid sizes!

Tell us about your drive and we’ll send you an email with tips on organizing a successful drive and a poster to help promote it!

Once your drive has wrapped up, please check to make sure coats are clean, in good condition, and the zippers work. Please place all items in a plastic bag before bringing them to a Koats for Kids drop-off location.

Create kits from the comfort of home

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to not have a clean pair of socks? Or to be able to afford a new toothbrush?

As small as they may seem, basic items like these make a world of difference for Winnipeggers living on a low income—especially those who have been hit hardest by the pandemic.

You can help out your neighbours during this critical time by providing items that are in constant demand in our community. Below are a few examples of urgently-needed do-it-yourself kits that will give hope to families across Winnipeg.

Hygiene Kits

Donate to help Winnipeg kids.

You can help families living on a low income spend meaningful time together by gifting activity kits. Filled with a variety of games, crafts, and activities for the whole family, these kits offer hours of fun and entertainment for families across Winnipeg.

Help families stay connected during periods of isolation by collecting donations of the following items:

Even in the challenging circumstances of the pandemic, you can make sure kids are set up for success by providing age-appropriate activity kits for families who otherwise can’t afford these items.

Give kids the opportunity to learn, innovate, and be creative by collecting donations of the following items:

  • colouring books
  • crayons
