Let's put a stop to period poverty
Right now, Winnipeggers are missing school or work because they can’t afford menstrual hygiene supplies.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Every year, we invite workplaces, unions, and caring people like YOU to help us eliminate period poverty, so every Winnipegger can fully participate in our community. To celebrate 60 years united, our goal is 60,000 period products!
Did you know? Canadians can spend up to $6,000 on menstrual hygiene products throughout their lifetime. In rural communities, the same products can cost up to $12,000.
For so many people in our city, menstrual products are unaffordable. That means many Winnipeggers living on a low income end up missing school or work because of a period. And if you’re experiencing homelessness, it’s even harder getting monthly menstrual supplies.
We believe that having a period should never prevent someone from fully participating in daily life. And that’s where we need your help!
United Way Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Labour Council are joining forces to collect donations of menstrual products for people in our community from low-income households.
We’re inviting workplaces, unions, and caring Winnipeggers like you to join us in eliminating period poverty.
