Job readiness & financial skills

Employment is a key factor in breaking the cycle of poverty. You can help ignite the potential of Winnipeggers, so our entire community can shine bright.

Poverty is a complex, relentless problem in our city, impacting at least 1 in 8 Winnipeggers.

Decent work means people can build better lives for themselves and their families. But the reality is, jobs aren’t always easy to find—especially if you’re new to the country. Or you have a disability. Or you’ve been involved with the justice system.

We all want the chance to succeed, no matter our ability or background. By working together, we can connect Winnipeggers from all walks of life with opportunities and tools to enrich their futures.

Job searching & training

Work is more than a way to support a family—it’s about finding a sense of purpose, dignity, and belonging.

From computer literacy to learning interview skills, your gift equips more Winnipeggers with the tools to find and maintain a job so they can meet their basic needs, become financially self-sufficient, and thrive for the long-term.

Asset building & money management training

It’s difficult to get ahead financially without a bank account or knowing how to budget.

Your gift helps low-income Winnipeggers enhance their financial literacy. From getting ID to opening a RESP to understanding credit, more Winnipeggers are setting themselves up for a stable future because of you.

Access to benefits

Filing taxes is a doorway to accessing benefits and credits—which can make a huge difference for someone living in poverty.

Every year, our donors help put money back in the pockets of thousands of low-income Winnipeggers through free tax filing services and access to benefits, leaving more money for essentials like rent, groceries, and clothes.

Building a diverse workforce

For far too many Winnipeggers, enormous barriers prevent them from participating in the labour market.

Newcomers, people with disabilities, Indigenous youth, and former offenders may face extra obstacles to employment. With your help, we can create change at all levels—from making sure job seekers have the right support to training employers to build more inclusive workplaces.
