Intention, impact, and hope at the heart of United Way Winnipeg's 2025-2030 Strategic Plan

Intention, impact, and hope are at the heart of United Way Winnipeg’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, released this week and shared with a roomful of supporters at our 60th anniversary Luncheon and Annual General Meeting.

“60 years ago, when United Way of Winnipeg first started this journey, it was all about uniting our collective abilities and resources and bringing that to bear in an impactful way—in a common direction—to make our city a better place,” said Geeta Tucker, incoming Chair of the Board of Trustees.

“You can see that foundational vision in the pillars of our new Strategic Plan, which will guide this organization over the next five years. I truly can’t wait to see it in action.

“It’s the action that will guide us and serve our community so well for many years to come.”

United Way Winnipeg’s work has always been guided by a triple bottom line: to have the greatest impact possible in the community, raise the most money possible, and be a great place to work and volunteer.

Focused on these three guiding lights, meaningful engagement sessions took place over the last year with agency partners, workplace partners, volunteers, staff, and donors to discuss emerging community needs and priorities for the next five years.

What emerged was three strategic priorities, along with three ways of working, or lenses—all essential to advancing our mission:

Strategic Priorities

  • Respond with intention, evolving to best meet emerging needs in our community and the social service sector;
  • Expand our relevance, building loyal and engaged relationships that reflect Winnipeg’s diverse communities and preferred ways of giving; and
  • Be a model organization, deepening the ways we support staff, volunteers, and organizational effectiveness.

Lenses

  • Relationships & Partnerships;
  • Indigenous Collaboration; and
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility.

Outgoing Chair Donna Miller said she’s proud of the diversity of voices from all over the city who shared their deep dedication and their priorities for the future to inform these meaningful discussions.

 “The conversations surfaced areas of strength, areas of need, and a deep commitment to working united,” Miller told luncheon guests. “The careful attention paid to creating this vision document speaks to just how much YOU all care about our city—and the people in it.

Together, we will shape the future of our city—one where every Winnipegger has the chance to live with dignity, security, and hope.
