Celebrating Labour Day: Honouring Our Partnership for a Stronger Winnipeg

August 26, 2024

< 1 MIN READ

This Labour Day, United Way Winnipeg celebrates solidarity and honors the power of collective action and the contribution of workers across the country.

As we celebrate Labour Day, we’re reminded of the powerful partnership that has flourished between the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) and United Way Centraide Canada. This collaboration, rooted in a shared vision of prosperous, inclusive, and diverse communities, has been a cornerstone in strengthening our city, ensuring that every Winnipegger has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Labour Day is a time to honour the contributions of workers across our country, but it’s also a day to celebrate how we, together, are making a real difference in our community. The partnership between labour unions and United Way Winnipeg is more than just a collaboration; it’s a commitment to social justice, equity, and the well-being of every individual in our city.

This partnership exemplifies the belief that by mobilizing collective action, we can address the root causes of social issues and build a community where everyone is supported. Whether it’s through governance, fundraising, advocacy, or community impact work, the labour movement’s involvement in United Way Winnipeg has been instrumental in driving meaningful change.

To commemorate this Labour Day, we’re excited to share a special message from United Way Winnipeg Board Chair Donna Miller and Melissa Dvorak, President of the Winnipeg Labour Council.

We invite you to watch this heartfelt message as we celebrate the strength of our partnership and the ongoing work to build a Winnipeg where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we are stronger.

Happy Labour Day, Winnipeg! Let’s continue to work united for a brighter future.
