A dynamic community collaborator with a passion for social change, United Way Winnipeg is thrilled to announce Matthew Cutler will lead the organization into the future as our new President and CEO.

“United Way has played a critical role in every stage of my life, whether accessing the services of an agency partner, breaking fundraising records as a member of workplace campaigns, or serving as a United Way Winnipeg and agency volunteer,” Cutler said this week.

“I would not be who I am today without United Way.”

With an established record of progressive leadership in public service, Cutler comes to United Way Winnipeg after three years as Vice-President, Exhibitions at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR), and previously worked as Assistant Deputy Minister, Communications and Engagement, with the Government of Manitoba.

He is also an active and lifelong volunteer, currently serving as Board Chair at Rainbow Resource Centre, Director on the Board of Clan Mothers Healing Village, and as a United Way Winnipeg Agency Liaison Volunteer and Board Trustee.

"Matthew brings a rare combination of heart, strategy, and integrity
to everything he does."

Geeta Tucker, Chair of United Way Winnipeg’s Board of Trustees, said Cutler’s experience and values-based leadership are ideal complements to the 60-year-old organization’s philosophy and vision—to engage and inspire Winnipeggers to work united and build a strong community where everyone is cared for, supported, and valued.

“Matthew brings a rare combination of heart, strategy, and integrity to everything he does,” she said. “His leadership reflects a deep respect for community, a belief in inclusive collaboration, and a passion for social change through vision, relationships, and strategic action. We are so pleased he will be joining United Way Winnipeg’s team of passionate and committed donors, volunteers, partners, and staff.”

Cutler will assume his role as President and CEO on Monday, August 11, 2025.
